Irish Connections
My first Aylward Gathering, August 2018. It was hosted by John Aylward in Waterford, Ireland. What a time it was! For Newfoundlanders, Ireland feels a lot like home. They are our history, and when Irish immigrants came to Newfoundland their folklore and traditions came with them. It was great meeting 'distant cousins' from all over!
Exploring Waterford, Ireland, we discovered the city's connection with Vikings. Their Virtual Reality experience, sitting on benches inside a longhouse, was mind-blowing! A definite must-see if/when you visit.
We watched thatchers at work repairing one roof. It was fascinating.
